KMAS is a purchasing strategy that supports Just-in-time manufacturing operations. The system uses a bar-coded card that contains production information such as part numbers, delivery or workcell locations, part descriptions and company name. The successful implementation of the system depends on the ability of the purchasing department to accommodate non-traditional delivery strategies.
