From the supplier: The services of Carolina Power and Light Co. (CP&L) reach over one million electric customers in North and South Carolina. To ensure its future in the highly competitive industry, which is presently dominated by Duke Power Co. in the Carolinas, management at CP&L is introducing a five-part strategic plan. Development of this strategic plan was guided by the company's corporate vision, which emphasizes cost and quality of operations, customer service, success for employees and returns for investors. The five elements of the strategy require the reduction of costs while pursuing high levels of performance, safety and environmental stewardship; the aggressive marketing of electricity to increase profitable sales; to generate excellent value for shareholders; to define its industry; and to foster a performance-oriented culture. This strategic plan will guide CP&L through the year 1999.
