From the supplier: The Prompt Payment Act of 1982 requires government agencies to pay interest penalties if they fail to pay their contractors after 30 days from the receipt of proper invoices. The law is intended to help companies doing business with the government in collecting payment, and to encourage government agencies to take advantage of prompt payment discounts. Small businesses are given additional assistance under the amended Small Business Act. Under this law, all administrative agencies with an Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization unit are required help small business collect late payments and interest penalties.
