From the supplier: In-depth interviews of 16 female student teachers were conducted to gain a better understanding of the complex process of learning to teach that is further complicated by their gender and by the public school setting. One of the most common problems experienced by the study participants was harassment by male high school students. A frank and objective examination of the issue of the objectification of women in the public schools could call attention to such gender-embedded issues in the student teaching experience, as well as prompt a redesign of teacher education curriculum and practice.
