From the supplier: Some small, publicly trade companies were studied to explore the relationship between pay and performance for CEOs. Aside from such traditional performance variables as return on equity, sales and growth in sales, the study also analyzed the role of insiders on the board of directors, how much of the firm is owned by the members of the board and the company's risk. Results suggest that the conventional performance measures have a significant impact on the movements in CEO compensation in small firms. However, the study also found that the link between organizational outcomes and executive compensation is not affected by the role of insiders on the board.
