From the supplier: Minnesota Power and Light Co (MP) is a Duluth, MN-based electric utility that has diversified into water and waste water, automobile auction, and securities investments. Its electric energy business accounts for 74% of its revenues and 50% of its assets, its water and waste water utility service for 10% of total revenues and 18% of assets, its automobile auction chain for 9% of revenues and 18% of assets, and its investments for 7% of revenues and 14% of assets. MP is divided into four business units: the Generation Group comprising of all utility assets; the Transmission Group, which is in charge of transporting electricity from generating stations from distribution systems; the Distribution Group responsible for power delivery to retail customers; and the Power Marketing Group, which is tasked with increasing sales. MP operates in 28 states and three Canadian provinces.
