From the supplier: The dead doctor wounds his son in a sort of two-way snake bite in 'The Wild Palms' part of William Faulkner's novel, 'If I Forget Thee, Jerusalem.' Almost nothing is said about the doctor father of Harry Wilbourne, who flees from the life his father arranged for him. The story is important to the Faulknerian view of fathers, however, if that exists. What is told about Harry's father is mostly in one sentence from his will written soon after Harry's birth. It designates money for the boy's education to go to medical school, for him an impossible goal, and is the center of the relationship of son and father.
