From the supplier: A professor at the American University asserts that editorial writing can be taught. When he started teaching the course in 1973, he introduced changes on how to instruct students about editorial writing to pique their interest. Over the years, he made the course more pertinent and attractive by changing the name 'editorial writing' to 'opinion writing' and giving the op-ed page and the editorial page equal treatment. He also avoided building barriers between the editorial page, the op-ed page and other commentary pages. He also allowed non-journalism and non-communications students to enrol.
