From the supplier: The needs of adult students differ from those of their younger counterparts. As a means of adapting to this difference, Empire State College of New York developed the Center for Distance Learning to adapt to their lifestyles and to address their technical needs and physical location. Each student is assigned a mentor, upon whom the student relies for educational guidance. Research and study are conducted independently by the student, with the help of several aides devised for their needs. The Finder's Guide is an aide that assists in research across the state of New York, showing the locations of reference materials and general books. The Writer's Complex computeried writing tool offers students assistance with their writing via computer. The focus of the adult learning program at this college is to provide the tools for the students to take initiative and learn independently.
