From the supplier: The Canutillo Elementary School, located near El Paso, TX, has demonstrated improvements in Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TASS) reading and math scores using Advantage Learning Systems' Accelerated Reader for Spanish/English. Half of the school's 700 students speak limited English, and the TASS improvements are especially noteworthy because they were generated in a bilingual setting. Besides Accelerated Reader, Reading Renaissance techniques developed by the Institute for Academic Excellence were also used. The Institute is a subsidiary of Advantage Learning. Improvements were dramatic. In 1995, before Accelerated Reader was purchased, only 50% of Canutillo's fourth-grade class passed the TASS reading test and only 47% passed the math test. After the software was implemented, 76% of the sixth grade passed the reading test and 91% passed the math portion.
