From the supplier: The technique of inflation targeting as adopted by central banks across the globe involves the declaration of official inflation targets and the admission that low and stable inflation is the primary long-term goal of monetary policy. Inflation targeting is considered more appropriately not as a rule but as a policy framework that allows policymakers to seek other objectives in the short-term. Central banks that employ inflation targeting must consult explicit structural models of the economy in making policy decisions instead of implicit private-sector or explicit forecasts.
