The districts needed to share course information over a single network based on computers in the county's schools. The York Area Technology in Education Consortium (YATEC) selected a networking infrastructure designed by Hyperion Communications and based on Fujitsu Network Communications' hardware. The network is designed to handle a variety of protocols, transport video and share hardware. The resulting wide-area network (WAN) connects the districts' systems to a Hyperion central office.
