From the supplier: New monthly measurements of wage rate inequality in the manufacturing industry since 1947 allowed for the calculation of wage rate inequality back to 1920. Analysis of these new measures suggest a Keynesian and macro-theoretic view of changing wage distributions, which indicate that the unemployment rate is the main determinant of the wage rate distribution. Results also suggest that the extreme inequality of the wage structure is associated to the lack of support for redistributive policies and for public sector employment.
