From the supplier: The advent of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software is expected to proceed at a faster pace. This is due to the present affordability of the ERP systems that occurred as a result of high end market saturation. An estimated 20% of US firms are already using some sort of ERP software and most of these firms are still in the familiarization stage with the new systems. Despite initial problems in the implementation of the ERP systems, a number of CFOs are confident that they will be of great help in running their organizations. The current view is that technology, at least for the moment, has managed to outstrip the companies' capacity to use them. Some companies, however, are already reporting gains from such applications as activity-based costing.
