Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) WiMAX Infrastructures and Strategies 2005-2009 Forecast and Analysis
Book Details
Description
This IDC study analyzes the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ WiMAX services and equipment market opportunities. "WiMAX is a new standards-based broadband wireless access (BWA) technology gaining rapid acceptance around the world. It is capable of delivering broadband Internet and extending services like Internet telephony without major disruptions to connectivity and other services such as traditional PSTN voice and TV broadcast," says Deirdre Yeung, senior program manager, Fixed-Line Telecommunications Research, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Asia leads the way in WiMAX deployment and has already seen commercial deployments of 802.16a or pre-WiMAX systems. Poor rural fixed network coverage and high local loop costs especially drive demand for WiMAX in the region," she adds.
