The Structure of Economic Science

The essays in this book are published here for the first time. Mainly, they are by economists who have strong methodological interests. Several of the authors are philosophers. The economists look within their discipline at their own habits of thought, at their axioms, and at their assumptions. These essays have been written for the general economist who is mainly interested in the substantive problems of his field, for the undergraduate or graduate student who wishes to discover more about the precepts of economics, and for other scientists and philosophers who wish to learn more about how economists handle their substantive and methodological problems.
