On November 22, 1942, two Russian armored columns closed the ring around 270,000 men of the German Sixth Army. Six weeks later, only 91,000 Nazi troops were left alive to surrender. THE FORSAKEN ARMY captures more than the brutality and horror of combat. It is an acid portrait of German troops who felt themselves needlessly and mercilessly betrayed by their Fatherland.
