Western European Mobile Network Infrastructure Spending, 1H05 and Preliminary 2005

This study contains IDC's mobile infrastructure equipment spending (including a split between HSDPA/UMTS and EDGE/GPRS/GSM) vendor share data for the Western European market in 1H05 and preliminary estimates for 2005. Vendors' market shares are calculated according to end-user revenue.

"In 2H05, several European operators have already deployed or are planning to deploy HSDPA on top of their UMTS network deployments. For the full year 2005 Western European spending on mobile infrastructure is expected to increase by at least 12% in contrast to 2004 spending, excluding currency changes," said Alejandra van de Roer, senior research analyst for IDC's European Mobile and WiFi Infrastructure service.
