Rancho La Brea, Death Trap and Treasure Trove

The George C. Page Museum of La Brea Discoveries in Hancock is located at the site of one of the world's richest deposits of Ice Age fossils. Its galleries, laboratories, and storerooms house the Rancho La Brea heritage, more than three million fossil plants and animals that have been excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits since the early 1900s. This vast collection, which is the basis for the museum's rich displays of extinct creatures and prehistoric landscapes, gives an incredibly detailed picture of life in North America from 4,000 to 40,000 years ago.
