"Jane Addams was born in Cedarville, Illinois in 1860. She founded Hull-House in Chicago in 1889, a social settlement where educated young women could live and put their social principles into action. She also started the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. In 1916 Jane Addams supported the reelection of Woodrow Wilson but her pacifist views conflicted with his when the United States went into war.
