Description:
The paper assesses the job-finding success and job qualities of workers displaced by the closing of a textile mill. Being male and years of service increase the odds of finding a job while age lowers them. Additional training reduces job search time as does being Black. The quality of the new job is directly related to more training, staying in textiles and is inversely related to having less than a high school education and taking longer to obtain employment. Wages are negatively affected by workers' being older, longer job search and quite adversely affected by obtaining employment in retailing.
