Description
Excerpt from the Preface:
It is strange that we have had no book quite like this before. We have had works which explain the consonance between metaphysics and Catholic teaching, others which consider the metaphysical questions arising in the context of Christian teaching or living, and still others which argue one or another of the theories regarding the relationship between metaphysics and theology or between metaphysics and dogma. Everyone is quite aware that metaphysics and the Church's teachings are somehow related. Indeed, often a purportedly "reasoned" metaphysics may be in fact a distillation from Catholic teaching as such rather than from natural existence in itself. But, so far as I know, no other book in any language undertakes frankly the basic task of going openly to the documents of the Catholic faith, that is, to the Bible and the decrees of the Church councils and of the popes from the beginning to the present day, with the avowed aim of stating in summary form the metaphysics they imply and, indeed, often explicitly state.
