Description

Basic rules of form are found in the Harvard Law Review Association's the Bluebook: A Uniform System Of Citation (19th ed. 2010), commonly referred to as The Bluebook. Except as modified herein, the rules in The Bluebook should be followed. The Greenbook is intended primarily as a supplement to The Bluebook to address citation problems unique to Texas; in cases of conflict, The Greenbook should be followed in citing Texas authorities. In any event, if unusual circumstances make the suggested cite form inadequate, a reasonable alternative is acceptable. Likewise, specific sources not addressed by citation manuals may be analogized to the suggested citation form for similar sources. The Greenbook does not address stylistic questions that may arise in legal writing. Many such questions can be resolved by reference to the Texas Law Review Manual on Usage & Style (11th ed. 2008).
