The Loess Hills Prairies of Central Nebraska

Previously there were no books on mixed grass prairie. This book may serve the public as a source book of detailed information on prairies in central Nebraska. Several chapters present original research. Chapters 11 & 12 (measuring prairie quality and prairie ecosystem interactions) represent unpublished research, presented here for the first time. Chapters 13 and 14 (GIS and computer simulation) represent recent approaches to understanding prairies. Some of the chapters represent thorough literature searches and reviews, such as Chapters 3, 4, and 10 (history of area, uses of prairie plants, and mammal impact on prairies). Contains color figures and photos.
