Description
TEXT IN ***GEORGIAN*** WITH LATIN LETTERS/Permanent Press is an SMS nonfiction compilation, representing collective attempt of archiving and documentation, as well as interpretation of surrounding reality by Georgian urban youth. "Permanent Press" was developed from an online project "Odd SMS Set" of zigota - Global Darkness Publishing, active between 2004-2006 years in Tbilisi, Georgia. During this period, the project participants used to submit their short text messages, leading to formation of a specific new form of selected narrative as a variety of the existing urban literature style.
Structure of the text message exchange, their near-automatic means of origination and preservation serve as an experiment with a new form of non-fiction writing which can be defined as an embryonic stage for Self-Generating Narrative. Due to the nature of a Latin alphabet-oriented sms scripting, texts/speeches in Georgian, being transcribed in Latin letters, are able to surpass imposed language restrictions of the global on-demand channels of book and text distribution. Same type of experiment with a Self-Generating Literature, yet in the online environment, can be assessed in "Selected Logs" - another book by the Global Darkness Publishing. Both in sms and online cases, despite the experimental nature, these books represent Georgian non-fiction just as any other conventional documentary compilation.
