JOHN C. DERNBACH, WIDENER UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW, RICHARD V. SINGLETON II HEALY AND BALLIE, CATHLEEN S. WHARTON, UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA SCHOOL OF LAW, JOAN M. RTHENBERG, INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW AND INDIANAPOLIS. A great many people both students and teachers, encouraged us to publish a second edition. Their support has made the second edition a reality. Susan Brody helped bring Joan Ruhtenberg and Cathy Wharton into the project. As a result, the second edition combines the practical experience of John Dernbach (government) and Richard Singleton (private practice) with their substantial teaching experience. At Widener University School of Law, Dennis Corgil, Mary Kate Kearney, Maureen Kordesh, Randy Lee, Robert Mensel, Michael Murtaugh, Robyn Meadows, Kathy Nelson, and Susan Racker-Jordan provided extensive and constructive comments on many of the new chapters. In the administration, Arthur Frakt's support was invaluable. Jill Ramsfield of Georgetown University Law Center provided invaluable comments on many of the new chapters in this second edition. The administration, faculty, and staff at the University of Georgia School of Law were extremely supportive throughout the writing of this book. Peg McCann, Allison Hale, and Barbie Frake provided comments and suggesiotns that have made this a better book. Laura Ivey wrote the first draft of the memorandum in Appendix A. Cynthia Adams, Deborah McGregor, Thomas Newby, and Adnrew Solomon-all members of the legal writing faculty and Indiana University School of Law and Indianapolis-shared their collective experience in teaching the first edition as well as draft of the second edition.
