FDR (Franklin Delano Roosevelt)

Any book which attempts to recapture some measure of the drama of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's life must be quite out of the ordinary. FDR qualifies as extraordinary through its use of source material normally unavailable to biographers. It is based upon a forth-coming ABC-TV twenty-six-week television series depicting Roosevelt's life and years. From material assembled for that series author-historian Roger Butterfield wrote the superb text. From the same collection, which includes a million feet of motion-picture film and 10,000 still photographs, Robert D. Graff and Robert Emmett Ginna selected the more than 400 illustrations herein. The pictures, many never before published, were chosen to convey not only the historical record but also something of the emotional impact of the man and his times.
