THE BEETHOVENS is scripted for both movie and stage. The story addresses the unsolved problem, What inspired Beethoven's third and greatest period?

During ten years, Beethoven had a volcanic love-hate relationship with his brother's widow, Johanna, and her son, Karl. One of the world's greatest creators, Beethoven became Johanna's rival, envying Karl's deep ties to his mother. The widow took on the colossal genius fearlessly, fighting tooth and nail for her child. For a time, confused and deluded, Beethoven insisted Karl was his child. Johanna's tireless persistence brought him back to earth, making plain the facts of life.

Johanna saved Beethoven from going mad. She is one of the great women of history. Without her, no Ninth. The play/movie is dedicated to Johanna.
