Jailbreak

This short story was taken from an energetic new novel called THE HUNGRY, which also starred Sheriff Penny Miller. THE HUNGRY was first released as an ebook October 1, 2011, with an introduction by best-selling zombie author Joe McKinney ("Dead City," "Flesh Eaters"). The paperback version was released soon after. The book took off. The sequels THE HUNGRY 2: THE WRATH OF GOD, THE HUNGRY 3: AT THE END OF THE WORLD, THE HUNGRY 4: RISE OF THE TRIAD and THE HUNGRY 5: ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE soon followed.

This 5,000 word section has already appeared in "Best New Zombie Tales," the charity anthology "Dead Set," and is in co-author Harry Shannon's Stoker-nominated collection "A Host of Shadows."
