📖 Description
An introduction to kinematic design. The kinematic design of a mechanism involves two major steps: 1) The selection of the type of mechanism to be used and 2) The determination of suitable dimensions. This book is restricted primarily to a consideration of some of the theory and techniques useful in step two. Most of the theory discussed will be general for plane motion, but design examples will be limited to lower paired plane mechanisms or their equivalents. MAJOR CHAPTERS: 1) Introduction. 4-Bar Mechanisms. 2) Review of Velocity and Acceleration Analysis in Plane Motion 3) Gross Motions in the 4-Bar Mechanism 4) Coupler Curves 5) Path Curvature. Inflection Circle. Euler-Savary Equation. 6) Polode Curvature. The Cubic of Stationary Curvature. 7) Analytical Design of 4-Bar Mechanism for Coordinated Motions of the Cranks. 8) Finite Displacements.
