Paradigm For Better Health Care: The Medicaid ACO Model

Debate continues as to whether the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (the “Act”) is a “good” law capable of either protecting patients or making Americans’ health care more affordable, but many agree that the current system is too expensive, and that our individual and collective health care expenditures do not guarantee, or even correlate with, the quality of our health care. In a society in which the phrase “you get what you pay for” is commonplace, the idea that we are paying ever-increasing amounts for a health care system that leaves far too many without the best possible quality of care is difficult to grasp or accept.
