KATY'S SHADOW

"Katy's Shadow", A Christian thriller.

Every story has an ending, but when Katy Moss Burnet, investigative reporter for the student newspaper at The University of Texas, begins a story on the popularity of vampire books and movies, she never dreams the ending will be her own.

When Katy's body is found under mysterious circumstances, but a ruling of "death by natural causes" is given, her closest friends refuse to accept that ruling and begin their own investigation into Katy's death. While following up on Katy's story, they find she had discovered evidence of a real vampire. As the investigation continues, they quickly find themselves facing strange happenings and, perhaps, bad endings of their own.

Katy's Shadow explores the origins and effects of the vampire and werewolf craze that has swept through young America and around the world. This tense thriller with romantic undertones shows how vampirism, as well as other preternatural myths, can be explained by understanding the spirit world.

Katy's Shadow is tilted toward older youth and adults, rather than young adults. This novel is Christian in spirit, and clearly so, but not in an in-your-face manner. The goal is to be read, and to open the door to discussion on this cultural phenomenon, not to hammer my beliefs into the readers' hearts and minds. Katy's Shadow is designed to be the first of a series.
