Foxfire Four Volume Set: Foxfire Book, Vol. 2, Vol. 3 and Vol.4

In the late 1960's, Eliot Wigginton and his students created the magazine Foxfire in an effort to record and preserve the traditional folk culture of the Southern Appalachians. This is the original book compilation of Foxfire material which introduces Aunt Arie and her contemporaries and includes log cabin building, hog dressing, snake lore, mountain crafts and food, and "other affairs of plain living." Vol.2 includes ghost stories, spring wild plant foods, spinning and weaving, midwifing, burial customs, corn shuckin's, wagon making and more affairs of plain living. Vol.3 includes: animal care, banjos and dulcimers, hide tanning, summer and fall wild plant foods, butter churns, ginseng, and still more affairs of plain living. Vol.4 includes: fiddle making, springhouses, horse trading, sassafras tea, berry buckets, gardening, and further affairs of plain living.
