Cycle of Blood

In the steamy, mosquito infested backwaters of the Florida Everglades sits a woman bound on a moldering dock that juts from a one room shack. Thousands of ravenous insects violate her extremities buzzing mercilessly into her eyes, ears and nostrils. Her mind whorls and searches for reason to this madness. She knows that all of this horror emanates from the one within the shack. She can see him now as he drifts like a smoky apparition down the length of the rickety dock. He confirms her suspicions with a short analogy of his twisted reality. He ensures her that it is for her own good. That it is to purify her mind and body and in order to teach her a lesson about “being good” as he put it; even if it kills her.
As the sun rises Detectives Nikki Sombarro and Mason Gage are assigned what will ultimately be more than one detective can endure. The partners are assigned to investigate the death of a woman whose bloated and swollen body was found alongside the Sawgrass freeway. This corpse is the first in Sombarro and Gages investigation into a series of mysterious murders. Their tenacity, though tried to its fullest takes them from the Everglades to the ivory towers of higher education with the murderous culprit being the most unlikely suspect.
Narcissism, or more to the point, Narcissistic Personality Disorder is the real malevolent entity here as its victims suffer in ways most can’t understand. However the people in the lives of the afflicted possibly suffer to a greater extent due to the insanity that surrounds them. Such is the case here as people are sucked into a vortex of insanity and murder to an extent that beyond the murders themselves, it is the innocent others who suffer the worst in the end.
