Description
D.M. watched as the thing turned its flat head, its long, forked tongue darting
in and out of its mouth as if it were not only smelling the scents on the wind but also tasting them D.M. wans't going to stand there and appear to be hiding from him, especially when he knew the being was aware of him and was tracing his scent.
D.M. stepped out from behind the cover of the tree. The hilt of his sword was in his hand, his finger on the button that would release the blades on either end.
The reptilian being stopped his movements, stared a moment at him and then finally spoke, "I have not seen your kind here before; I believe that I have never seen anything resembling your kind, not in this forest. What do you call yourself?"
D.M. looked at the repilian, man-like being. Somehow the thing was speaking Earther, but D.M. was positive the creature was not from Earth. What do you call yourself?" he countered.
D.M. pressed the button on the long hilt of his sword. The two blades sprung out from either end, gleaming in the diffused light of the forest.
"Is that your weapon? A fine weapon that. I have never seen anthing so fine in all my life. May I approach more closely to examine it?"
"If you come any closer," D.M. said, "you will do more than examine it, you will also feel its bite as I slit open your belly."
"We seem to be at an impasse," Rynn hissed. "We cannot stand here all day and stare each other down, now can we?"
"I can." D.M. said
