Once first readers have grasped the phonic sounds of the alphabet, then it is time to progress to simple 3-letter words.
Each of the 30 words in this phonics flashcards pack consists of 3 simple phonemes from the alphabet phonic sounds (like d-o-g and c-a-t, as opposed to more complex 3-letter words like oi-l and b-ee). The idea behind these level 2 cards is that the new reader who has a grasp of the alphabet phonic sounds can quickly have success with reading "real" words, without too many new concepts being introduced at once. This allows the new reader to build up confidence and find out that reading can be both fun and extremely satisfying!
There are 60 pages in this ebook: for each of the 30 words there is first a very large image of the word by itself, followed on the next page by a specially selected photo representing the word with the word written out again (use a large font size such as 6 for optimal reading on the Kindle). The pictures are high-contrast and suitable for use on black-and-white readers as well.
