This is the history of one family which served in World War Two and family who were effected by the war. It covers a wide range of topics and talks to the effects of different events, happenings and being in the military meant to people. It talks about the Dutch underground through people who became part of it and had the movie "Schindler's List" not been created the actions of this individual would have offered a suitable replacement. It speaks to the direct effects of the Battle of Britain and surviving a direct bomb hit, a scene recreated in the 1968 movie "Battle of Britain." The story of the flyer coming home for his 21st birthday also appeared in an old war movie of WWII. It was as if that actually happened to Paddy Leonard. There are also a few humourous sidlights of war and the recorded biographies of the boys of Lakefield Preparatory School where Prince Andrew spent several terms as an exchange student in 1977. It talks of war hearos and those behind the scene that helped to keep the war machine running. There is no plot to these stories, just the truth of war,an insight into what WWII was to a generation who had to live through it. It was not a pretty war but life went one.
