About the Book

Relatively few undergraduate textbooks exist on the subject of administrative law. This is ironic, due to the pervasiveness of administrative law to modern society. It is my desire to make understanding the complexities of American administrative law easier through writing this book. Introduction to American Administrative Law is designed for undergraduate students in public administration, political science, and criminal justice. This book examines the fundamental terminology, themes, and substantive laws of most relevant to administrative law in the United States. The book provides the student with a basic knowledge of American administrative law in terms of the legal foundations of the field, a brief history of administrative law, political controls over administrative agencies, administrative investigations, rulemaking, and adjudications, and the due process rights of employees and citizens in their dealings with administrative agencies. Introduction to American Administrative Law explains fundamental doctrines and provides an analysis of illustrative appellate court cases related to administrative law in the United States.
