Description
Ths is the draft of a manual for artists and art students to become competent by practicing the basics of their craft.
At the time of this writing, aspiring artists have a wealth of material at hand to learn the craft of art. And yet, as a teacher, I often get students who lack “the basics.” Even those who have some experience frequently lack a knowledge of their materials and the basic components of visual art that would allow them to move to the next level. I’ve had students tell me that I’m a good teacher, so I finally thought, “I should write some of the knowledge that I’ve accumulated over the years as an award-winning artist and teacher.”
This book is not intended to be another “paint like I do” book. I’m not interested in creating the School of Pam Coulter but rather designing a book of tips and exercises, a practical workbook that you can use to improve your skills.
While I will start with some philosophical information, basically, I want you to be able to use this book to improve your craft.
