ALAN ZIEGLER is a beloved author of prose poems that are for readers today what Whitman’s poems were for his time, and are for all time, an individual voice singing the common life, the daily troubles and joys of all. Ziegler has also spent a lifetime teaching writers of all ages, from grade school to Columbia University’s Graduate Writing Program, which he directed from 2001 to 2006.
