Halloween Night Fever: End of the Long Walk

Thirteen-year-old Willy Hynes can’t understand why he dreamt of a Native American shaman and how he pulled a patch of caribou skin out of his dream. Willy’s mentor, Vince Thomason, guides him through their town’s dark secret. Throughout the centuries, other residents of Sleepy Owl, Connecticut, have also pulled out caribou patches from their dreams. It is a sign for them to join the Pniese, a secret society formed by the Pequot Indians for Halloween night, when the supernatural are allowed to roam the earth. The Pniese’s duties are to protect the supernaturals from being exposed to the public and to enforce the law on renegade supernaturals. This year, the Pniese must recover a leprechaun’s stolen crock of gold and find a missing child gorgon without turning into stone. There is also a travelling evil entering Sleepy Owl. His name is Jack and until recently, he was doomed to walk the earth with only a lantern to guide him. Now, Jack is free and seemingly invincible to commit all the chaos he pleases in his search for voodoo rum. As Willy and Vince deal with the supernaturals, they learn about trust and teamwork, which are major themes in this novel.
