There are many, many books out there on How To Write a Screenplay, but I haven't seen one about what the writer should know BEFORE sitting down to write their's. This is that book.

It's based on what I've learned from having written over 50, feature-length screenplays, some produced. My two years working with Russ Meyer as his assistant at Fox, a position that allowed me rare access to what goes on behind the scenes before, during and after the production of a major motion picture. It's the things I learned BEFORE production began that are the basis of this slim volume.
