'Oklahoma Bill' McCready just wants to get home. The only thing stopping him is that he's dead, mummified, and hanging in a Californian ghost train. Orphan, Johnny Redfeather, doesn't know where home is. A circus runaway, he's determined to find his long lost grandfather, Oklahoma Bill. All he has is a crazy map of glued together flyers, and hope. The last time Becky Redfeather saw Oklahoma Bill he was face down in her daddy's farmyard, riddled with bullet holes. When Johnny unexpectedly arrives at Becky's farm, bringing a fifteen-year-old hillbilly runaway called Luella with him, the doors to the past and future are blown wide open. Together they set off to track down Bill's corpse, but Johnny has stirred up a hornet's nest of trouble on his way to Becky's - the kind of trouble that might get them all killed.
