Human Factors in Auditory Warnings

This is an edited volume of invited papers on human factors issues, psycho acoustic approaches and applications of auditory warnings. Since the use of warnings of all kinds, especially alarms, is increasingly important to safety in a range of industries including aviation, there is a growing interest in the problems and opportunities involved. The book looks at such areas as the psychology and interpretation of sound, perceived urgency, alarm mistrust, designing aircraft warning systems and auditory alarms in intesive care.
