On April 1, 1931 The Canyon de Chelly was established as a national park. The park covers more than 83,000 acres and is one of the longest continuously inhabited areas in North America and resides entirely within the boundaries of the Navajo Nation.
The canyon can be observed easily from the north or south rim drive and admittance is free. Admission to the canyon floor is restricted to only those accompanied by a native American guide except for the hiking trail from the south rim leading to the White House ruins, approximately a three mile round trip.
Hotel accommodations are readily available in the town of Chinle, AZ which is quite close to the junction where the road to the north and south rim begin.
The photographer currently has fine art photography on exhibit at The Center for Fine Arts in Globe, Arizona. In addition, the author is represented by more than a dozen agencies and all of these images have appeared in publications around the world.
