A tale of two brothers. Menes Aha, was a warrior prince who united Egypt five thousand years ago, while Thoth was clever but ailing. Menes became the first Pharaoh of the first dynasty but it was Thoth, through the invention of hieroglyphics, who provided the cement that held the new kingdom together.
Feted in life and remembered in the king list at Abydos, Menes is overshadowed by his younger brother who became the god of wisdom.
The brothers take turns at telling the story of their childhood and maturity, while their sister, Khakent, provides a pithy commentary on the two men.
