For several years, I’ve broadcast a series of vignettes on the origin of popular sayings. CKUA Radio Network listeners asked that I write this book. And I asked Jack Bride to come up with the illustrations.

Many sayings have had twists & turns of meaning over time; it’s remarkable how common phrases got bent out of shape and they'll likely continue to shift. So if you are looking for the last word on anything--so to speak--this ain’t it.
