Painting My Teacher Blue : A Handbook for Teachers of Art in New Zealand Primary Schools

Young learners will build reading skills as they create readable art, such as accordion books, giant murals, and sculptures. Also included is a list of easy-to-find recyclable materials. This book will enable NZ primary school teachers to plan and teach visual art programmes that reinforce the richness and depth of THE ARTS IN THE NEW ZEALAND CURRICULUM. Talking with children about art is a major focus of the curriculum document, so Painting my Teacher Blue includes sample lessons on the crucial aspect, along with the work of well known artists. Contents also include: - Advocacy of visual art - How to plan using the curriculum document -Processes and units for commonly used media -Assessment and evaluation of programmes Each unit can be used for classes in a wide range of situations, and adapted for children of any age, illustrations provide some alternative directions for each unit, and/or exemplars of work by which standards can be set.
