The work is fully illustrated by over two hundred engravings made from designs and drawings prepared by the author especially for this purpose. A considerable portion of the subject-matter of these chapters was published in Machinery, The I ronT rade Review and The Foundry, and attracted such attention and favorable commendation from practical men engaged in manufacturing enterprises, that the author decided to publish it in permanent form.
