How to Write a Researched Essay: A Beginner’s Guide

What is a researched essay? To begin, an essay is a composition consisting of three major parts: an introduction, the main body, and the conclusion, and uses various rhetorical modes to describe, define, or classify a subject.

A researched essay goes a step further, by adding material from outside sources in the form of direct quotes or paraphrases that support the claims you have made in your essay. The researched portion of the essay gives credibility to your essay argument and provides validity for your thesis.

How to Write a Researched Essay: A Beginner’s Guide provides the writer with some techniques to help get those ideas floating around in your head onto paper, or in a word processor, if you will. With a little preparation and planning and a lot of practice and hard work, you too can write a well-written researched essay.
